Sri Lanka PM meets business leaders at Horton Debate

Aug 05, 2016 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe met leading business personalities at a dinner event organized by the Horton Debate Society in Colombo recently.

At the well-attended function, Prime Minister Wickremesinghe explained his plans for electoral reforms, constitutional amendments and the initiatives underway to develop the economy.

The Prime Minister was joined by his wife Maitree, while Nirj Deva Aditya, Member of the European Parliament, presided over the event. Ranjan Hulugalle, chairman of Lanka Business Online, was the master of ceremonies.

The function attendees included Muhunthan Canagey, Dhammika Perera, Aelian Gunawardene, Sharm De Alwis, Prashan Nagendra, Anosha Subasinghe, Joyce Gunawardene, Shanil Fernando, Christine Dias Bandaranaike, Sachini Ayendra and Ishanga Mahipala.

“It was a great pleasure to host the Honorable Prime Minister, and to hear his vision for Sri Lanka, the foundation of which is being laid today,” Aelian Gunawardene, the managing director of JAT Holdings, said.

“We are happy to partner with Horton Debate Society and to support this kind of forum and create opportunities to discuss key issues,” he added.

JAT Holdings, Sri Lanka’s leading furnishing and finishing company, has come on board as an annual sponsor of the discussion events.

Sri Lanka’s premier networking group, the Horton Debate Society (invitation@hortondebate.com), organizes high profile events for business personalities and civil society leaders to interact with and pose key questions to top decision makers both local and foreign.

The events are held at the Grande Gourmet restaurant on Horton Place. Since January, the group has organized more than 10 events with current and former prime ministers, a former president, cutting edge economists, members of the European Parliament and high-profile international investors.
