Nov 10, 2016 (LBO) – Sri Lanka expects a 4.6 percent budget deficit in 2017, down from 5.4 percent for this year, the finance minister said presenting the 2017 budget.
Total revenue and grants are 2,098 billion rupees for 2017, while total expenditure is estimated at 2,723 billion rupees.
The budget deficit for this year is expected at 5.4 percent, at 670 billion rupees.
Analysts say several budget proposals for this year have been carried forward from last year.
